Having a pleasing or attractive appearance is important to women, especially in today’s social media era when a woman’s image might be snapped, posted, shared, tweeted, and re-tweeted endlessly. That’s why a lot of cosmetic products has appeared for women who wanted to look good.
There was research study which has recently suggested that wearing makeup makes women feel smarter. It also helps them to enhance their confidence. The researchers from the University of Chieti, Italy and the Harvard Medical School, USA carried out the research project related to wearing makeup. The team did their research study among the 186 female students. There were all undergraduate students, and the research team tried to know the “lipstick effect” among them. This “lipstick effect” is a common psychological phenomenon that boosts the confidence of a woman when she wears makeup and feels physically more attractive. It helps women to have the feelings of self-esteem, personality, and attitude. An important thing is a boost or improvement in the self-esteem helps to boost the cognitive abilities.
Makeup has the power to make you more confident and ready to face any situation. Wearing makeup showcase the sense of self-care, which makes a woman stand out from the crowd. Best of all, the reasons to wear makeup is that it can give a person the extra bit of control over the skin that they deserve.
I’m not really into makeup but that does not mean I don’t own any makeup product. I can go bare face all day and won’t really care if I look pale. But wearing a makeup really transforms a person, like when I had a job interview and I badly wanted to get hired, I’ll put on a little BB Cream to conceal some of my blemishes, an eyeliner because I think giving my eyes a little intensity would make me look a bit mature since I’m baby face, then apply blush on to give the face a glow and of course lipstick to brighten up the smile. I think makeup transform us, not only our face but can also make us feel more powerful and ready to face any situation.

The story behind the product started when Vice Ganda accidentally broke his mother’s lipstick while playing with it as a little boy. His mom told him that she has yet to finish paying for the lipstick in installments. He noted how a swipe of lipstick can easily brighten up a woman’s appearance and make her feel better about herself.

We have all this makeup available everywhere but we have to remember that sometimes makeup can be harmful to your skin’s health. Unhealthy makeup habits can cause acne, aging, and oiliness or dryness. Like sleeping in makeup can clog your pores and invite acne onto your face. It also can irritate your eyes and cause bumps to form on the skin close to your eyes. Leaving makeup on your skin overnight can accentuate wrinkles. Sun damage can also cause aging. Certain makeup products can make your skin drier or more oily than it usually is. Additionally, when people with naturally dry skin try to put makeup on top of their skin, the makeup can make their skin even drier. You can tell if you have dry skin by symptoms such as flaky or scaly skin. A shiny face is a sign of oily skin.
That is why a skin care routine is created.

Cleansing is important to cleanse your skin every night to remove make-up, impurities, dead skin cells, and excess oil. But a morning cleansing is also beneficial, as it removes any toxins the skin eliminates during the night and refreshes the skin, preparing it for make-up application.
Toners can help close pores and tighten cell gaps after cleansing, reducing the penetration of impurities and environmental contaminants into the skin. It can even protect and remove chlorine and minerals present in tap water.
Your antioxidant helps protect your skin against free radical and reactive oxygen damage, which can lead to premature skin aging and skin cancer.
Eye creams reduce or even erase the signs of aging: fine lines, wrinkles, and dark circles.
Acne spot treatments are over-the-counter acne products that are used to help heal specific, individual pimples.
Moisturizing Reduces Skin Problems – Moisturizing everyday can reduce the chance of developing extreme dryness or oiliness. Both extremes are harmful for skin and cause common skin conditions like acne. Conceals Other Skin Blemishes – Using a daily moisturizer ensures that the skin’s blemishes are camouflaged.
Sunscreen protects your skin from the sun’s harmful ultraviolet rays, which come in two forms – UVA and UVB rays. It protects sensitive skin against sunburn and it reduces the appearance of sun damage – discolorations and dark spots, sagging or leathery skin, and wrinkles
For me I’d rather spend more time doing my skin care routine than doing my makeup because having a healthy skin matters most.
According to Liza Soberano one of Philippine television’s most beautiful faces, skincare routine is not only cleanse and moisturize, but exfoliating is important too. Her first step is to remove all her makeup with her trusty makeup remover, then she double-cleanses by washing her face with facial wash. Liza uses a toner, then she exfoliates by using a gentle facial scrub to get rid of dry skin that makes skin dull. According to her: “It’s not enough to just wash your face, you have to deep-clean, too!” Lastly, she lets her skin rest with a good moisturizer.
Being beautiful is not just putting makeup on, what matters is that what makes you as a person and what’s inside. According to Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray “On a general note, beauty can’t be defined. You need to define beauty for yourself. You shouldn’t let social media, the media, or people around you define what you think is beautiful because everyone has the right to define what’s beautiful for them. It’s a matter of how you feel. If you feel beautiful with no makeup or with a lot of makeup, don’t let people shame you for that. You’re entitled to be happy and feel beautiful.”
